Builds Your Vision
O’Kroley 646
On the shore of Lake Mendota in downtown Madison, Wisconsin, O’Kroley 646 LLC was founded by Dawn O’Kroley in 2012. The mission began as the architectural restoration of a Claude and Starke designed 1908 Historic Landmark that had twice survived demolition by the city. In 2024, this endeavor, resulting in an award-winning restoration and 99-year project, has grown into O’Kroley 646 Design LLC an Architecture, Planning and Preservation design firm.
Our approach
Dawn’s portfolio of 30 years of civic, cultural and public design projects displays her dedication to providing quality design services to guide clients through the design process to the final built product. Dawn collaboratively creates design solutions and works to build the project team for the duration of the project. Beginning with initial studies to define the project scope and support capital budget requests all the way through on site coordination of final details with the contractor as the project vision is realized. Bringing a sense of design to all phases of a project, Dawn’s designs for new construction, historic preservation, additions and renovations, are celebrated spaces and transform the built form to bring a sense of time and history to place.
Dawn has been a registered architect since 2003 and is a Historic Architect meeting the National Park Service Secretary of the Interior's Professional Qualification Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties to serve agencies responsible for protecting historic properties. Dawn holds a Master of Architecture with Certificate in Historic Preservation from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, 2000 and a Bachelor of Architecture, 1998 including coursework at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
